What is the human body?
Biologically... it is a clumps or tissues, organs, cells, and blood
But what is a body really? What does it mean to you, to me, and to all the onlookers?
It seems like there is more to a body than the tissues and blood and organs. If a body was just a body, all that would matter is that all our hearts are beating right now. But it is not that simple. We are all judges by onlookers. We are judged by our hair, our skin, our height and weight. I mean that's what is meant by "judged at a first sight." We want to be considered "beautiful" or "handsome." We crave to be wanted or desired by others. We do things such as put on makeup, wear trendy clothes, and, in some cases, get plastic surgery. And we all say it's because we want to, but do we want to or do we want to fall under the label of beautiful or beautiful?
And if we are all subjects to this constant judgement of attractiveness and conformity to it... are we even in complete control of our bodies?
Of course no one straps us to a chair and forces us to groom our hair to perfection or forces us into a ballgown. But if there weren't all these labels and criteria to beautiful and handsome, wouldn't life be different? Wouldn't we look at our bodies differently? But right now most of us look at our bodies in the lenses society wants us to. So that leads me to wonder...
Is your body completely your own?
